That's why today was so exceptional. It really was a truly fun day, through and through. Sure, there was some hard moments, like always, but like magic, the next moment was so great that it was like an eraser to the one proceeding it.
We started out at the zoo. For once, we got in a groove that fit and no one was mad or whining or upset. We were with friends and snacked on popcorn and everyone was all smiles. We even found that the brown bear had an uncanny resemblance to our own Beary, Lily's beloved stuffed companion.
After the zoo came a flawless Target visit with a sleeping baby nestled in the ergo carrier and a little helper putting groceries into the basket. Lunch was eaten up and snacks were had. Everyone was delightfully smiley.
The best part, though, came after. Playing outside, my girls became girlfriends. They laughed and tumbled onto one another. They hugged and mimicked each other and enjoyed games of ball and climbing that they both could partake in. My heart melted as Lily embraced her sister in a half tackle, half hug and told her she was her buddy.
We spent the last of the evening with the girls guarding "their" clubhouse from my crazy ball and I felt so lucky to be receiving the gift of these moments. I felt so lucky to be the mom of these "buddies", my dear sweet girls.
